I Want Out

Author’s Note: I couldn’t find a suitable picture for this post. I wrote this last year when I was already burnt out and was about to quit my job.

‎I can’t wait to leave this nightmare
I want to rebel! I don’t care
I cannot wait any longer
When will this finally be over?

Hey, I didn’t sign up for this
I am not expecting this
Looks like I overstayed
Now things aren’t going my way

This is an endless frustration
Please! Control this explosion!
That light – I no longer see
I want out, this isn’t for me

Monday Blues

Author’s Note: Garfield hates Mondays and this picture is the perfect fit for “Monday Blues”. I wrote this yesterday after a weekend that (always) feels so short.

Hayaang buong araw akong matulog
At bawal ang kahit ano mang bulabog
Ngunit Lunes na naman pala ngayon
Dapat kumayod; kailangan bumangon
Kahit ako ay sobra pang inaantok
Kaladkarin na ang sarili papasok

English Version:
My weekends are always not enough
I need an extra day to recharge
I want a snooze, followed by a slumber
Be with my pillow and comforter
If I may, just let me hibernate
Never leave and stay lying on my bed
Allow me to nap and sleep all day
Disturbance is stricly prohibited
But today is actually a Monday
I must work; now, I need to get up
Though I’m sleepy and not in the mood
I have to drag myself and force my groove

When Can I See You Smile?

Author’s Note: The poem title and the lines are different from the song but somehow when I wrote this I can’t help but think and/or sing the song “When I See You Smile” by Bad English, hence the picture.

Sadness in your eyes I see
You seem bothered somehow
Not sure what you really feel
When can I see you smile?

Mystery – that’s what it is
Seems so obscure – an anonymity
Dark clouds surround you
Why are you so blue?

Are you in pain or may be hurting?
Are you in sorrow or may be suffering?
Every time I have a glance
Thought a smile from you is never a chance

I wonder if I can ever see you laugh
I wonder why you seem so sad
Why can’t you be happy even just for a while?
When can I see you smile?

This Is It

Author’s Note: Here’s another poem I wrote about a year ago. I wrote this on my way to work on the day that I told my boss that I will resign. I was emotionally attached to my previous job so when I decided to leave, I was torn and unsure if my decision was right. This poem was to convince myself that “This Is It! It’s time to move on!”.

Trying to hold back tears
It’s a sign of strength, don’t hide
This is what I prayed, this is the plan
Just keep on swimming, I’ll get by

Trying not to melt down
Have courage, have no regrets
This is my light, this is my new start
Just carry on, leave the past behind

Trying not to be emotional
I can do this, there’s no turning back
This is what I need, this is it!
Just go on, I’m on the right track
